The internet is an amazing tool that can be used for good.  It can also be used by dangerous individuals to do bad things.  To help protect the members of our troop please take a moment to read and share these safety guidelines with your scout.

Summer Camp 2014

Posted on Mar 29 2014 - 10:03am

Troop 660 Scouts and Scouters get ready for the biggest event of the year, Summer Camp.  This year we will be attending Camp Oljato, which is located on the edge of Lake Huntington about 350 miles from Cypress in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  Our week of swimming, boating, hiking, shooting, climbing, squirrel chasing, merit badge work and consuming gourmet meals begins on July 27 and runs until August 2. Camp sign-up will begin at the February 24th meeting.  The price is being finalized and will include a souvenir camp tee shirt and transportation. The cost structure should be available on February 24.  The cost will depend on when your final payment is received.  Early bird rates apply to those who pay in full by April 1st.  Rates will go up between $10 -15 if you pay by the final deadline on May 1.  Based on Pacific Sky Council policy, refunds will not be made for reservations placed after April 1st   To ensure that the troop has reserved adequate space, everyone must be paid in full by May 1st.  Ideally, payments should be made at the March 3, 31 and April 28 troop meetings.  Regular rate payments must be completed by May 1st.  After May 1, reservations and full payment will be accepted based on available space at Camp Oljato.  For this event to be a success, we will need a group of adults to commit to drive and attend camp.  Scouts and Adults attending camp should start preparing now by ensuring that you have a Class A, B and C physical form that has been completed after August 2, 2013.  Merit Badge and activity sign-ups packets will be in your troop mailbox by the end of February.  If you have questions contact Mrs. Goldgorin or Mr. LoBue.  Looking to learn more about Camp Oljato check these links out:

Scout Sunday and Bronze Pelican Award Celebration

Posted on Mar 8 2014 - 8:31pm

Scout Sunday is a great way to demonstrate how a Scout is Reverent while supporting the St. Irenaeus Parish.  This year’s Scout Sunday is extra special as our own Charter Representative and Eagle Coach,  Mr. Arenz, will be awarded with the Bronze Pelican for his service to the pack, troop and the Catholic Committee on Scouting.  Everyone regardless of your faith or home house of worship is invited to join in the procession beginning at 9:30 on Sunday February 9th.  It would be wonderful to see a great turn out of scouts.  Please come in your full class A uniform and meet us under the donut patio.  If you have questions, please call J. Martin or Mr. Dunn.
